Maqui Powder
  • Organic 3 oz.

Maqui berries are native to the pristine Patagonia region of Chile, where they are regularly consumed by the Mapuche Indians - one of the longest-living cultures in the world. Offering more antioxidants than any discovered fruit, recent studies have demonstrated the nutrition in maqui berries can support a wide variety of bodily functions, including brain performance, heart health, liver strength and - as the Mapuche Indians likely know - overall longevity.* With its mild, unsweetened berry flavor, maqui blends easily with other fruits or sweets in smoothies, desserts, or simply sprinkled on top of a breakfast bowl.

Navitas Naturals Maqui Power is organically grown in the Patagonian region of Chile. Harvested when ripe, is never exposed to high temperatures. Instead, the fruit is gently freeze-dried to protect and encapsulate its optimum nutrient content, then milled into a fine powder. This product has only one ingredient -- maqui berries -- which are organic, raw, gluten-free, vegan, and kosher.

Blueberry-Maqui Syrup

Place the blueberries into a bowl, cover, and let defrost for several house at room temperature (this step may also be done overnight in the refrigerator). When the blueberries are fully defrosted, use a fine mesh sieve or strainer to gently press out the excess juice over a small bowl, while taking care not to mash the berries. Set the berries aside for a moment. Place the liquid berry juice, maple syrup, vanilla extract, maqui powder, and xanthan gum into a small blender and blend for a full minute to distribute the gum evenly. Add the liquid into the bowl with the blueberries and mix gently. Makes about 2/3 cup.

Chef's Notes:
Xanthan gum is used to help thicken the mixture - it does not affect the flavor. If not using the gum, utilizing a blender is not necessary; the recipe may simply be mixed in a bowl. Yield: 4
